Digging Paths

Life moves often not with the ease of a straight arrow but the free will of a butterfly. Tossing and turning as a nights bad rest. It is never, if rarely a path visible from the start of a decision, but one that exposes itself only after the first foot forward. From this comes the leaps and bounds, the spiraling up and spiraling down.

“It is this weaving of time and direction that creates reality, that builds the form of meaning, purpose and resolve.”

Our paths in life are not unique, nor are they singular in their criss-crossing and weaving. This is the tapestries of life, the tattered and knotted, loose connections and titanium bindings. It is this weaving of time and direction that creates reality, that builds the form of meaning, purpose and resolve. Through this process, goals manifest and new paths enfold: layering and knotting new forms, entangling desire with fear.

Within the digging of paths, life exposes its truths though often we see them as lies, sifting all information through our own filters and stories: our own biases undetected and unwanted. This is when life folds upon itself, morphing into black holes and funneling a different direction, kneading the future unknown.

It is the forming of paths that all life makes sense, eventually creating clarity if only from a historical perspective. Through doing, digging and building do we see the future we seek or at least the glimmer, shown through the haze of desire and the light of hope.

Efforts of Others

“Through their inspiration we can better manifest our own navigation system: mapping our way through the contemporary terrain of dogma and contradictions.”

Within this era of challenge, I admire the efforts of others, how they inspire life by way of positive endeavor. Through their inspiration we can better manifest our own navigation system: mapping our way through the contemporary terrain of dogma and contradictions.

It is through the inspiration of others that we glean a better future, for ourselves and those we in turn support. Under this umbrella, life expands.

In the arena of interior design this is made evident by what we collect. How we surround ourselves with the hand created, books and music, is to allow inspiration. This is what the material world does, how words work, how beauty in all its manifestations, enfolds.

Paths

“It is within our daily doing that serves our deepest desires, relinquishes our hope and shines a light on purpose.”

The path of meaning is what we make it: how we sow its seed and dig its depth. It is within our daily doing that serves our deepest desires, relinquishes our hope and shines a light on purpose. This moves life’s pendulum to our advantage, allowing for control, or seemingly so.

Life cannot be truly guided: does not take control well. Its interaction warms us, as dog on leash, wagging metaphorical tail.

The Deepest Nail

“Simplicity in this era of uncertainty is not a romantic notion of returning to the “days of yore” but an action based on fact: nothing changes, if nothing changes.”

To simplify life down to what resonates deepest might seem to be a difficult task, but one of importance as we stare down the realities of contemporary life and the challenging future. Simplicity in this era of uncertainty is not a romantic notion of returning to the “days of yore” but an action based on fact: nothing changes, if nothing changes. This is a matter of building the maleable future. The architecture of thought and behavior, cause and affect.

The built environment can be a bolster for change if we let it. Or more precisely, if we make it. This is one of the few things in our control, how we live and too how we think. It is proven scientific fact, our choices make the difference. Actions speak loudest.

To build the future is to drive the nail deep, penetrating what we hold to be of greatest need and greatest hope. The realm of interior design can be seen as such endeavor, a means to better create the future unknown as builder’s tool or painter’s brush. This can assist in facilitating the reality of what we see within our minds eye. To see it, to hold it and then push it forward.
