We Collect And Create As A Means To Savor

March 12, 2023 Carl Barnett

NOURSH Gallery

We live our lives habitually, like breaths that enter and exit our bodies, most times without notice. Looking sometimes without seeing, not feeling what our bodies sense or what our minds reveal, living in automatic polite past the blooms of flowers, and puffs of clouds. So quick we are in moving on, tasking in unison to the tick of the clock.

How we live is the story we tell of life, living and who we are. How we live is the energy we take when we leave our bodies. We collect and create as a means to savor, a way to slow the hurling of time, making sense through beauty and the creative endeavor. Beauty is a storyteller, a mirror and window, if only we stop, not to look, but to see.

“We thrive, not by pure will but by the pull of emotion and intuition, a deep desire to fulfill who we are intrinsically: satiating love, empathy and the need to create.”

Our Ways Of Living

Our ways of living are intuitive, brought from the gut and our traditions of history. When we are mindful, we know what brings us joy and expand upon it, smoothing our passing forward. Life is difficult, our time here finite, to create change and beauty as life allows builds lasting results for generations to come.

Why We Create And Collect

To be in awe of the nuances of the maker’s hand is to feel a deeper pull into how we live and who we are. Our histories of being human: creating, mark making, and collecting. The ideology of building beauty. Why we create and collect. This goes beyond mere things, what AI cannot touch, being a sentient being, knowing from intuition, not facts.

It’s about what beauty does and what support can do, in the bigger and deeper picture of living life and being human.

Our Love. Our Light.

February 3, 2023 Carl Barnett

NOURISH Gallery | Ilona Golovina

We are intuitive beings with a passion to create, and the humility to resolve our failings, building beauty where there once was, or should be. It is through the creative languages that links are soldered, across tides, time, and bodies of difference. Through the creative mind, we dig deep the internal landscape, excavating the core of who we are. Our love. Our light.

Creating, Collecting And Meaning

Creating and collecting is a means to satisfy what is difficult to name, giving weight to the uncertainty of being human. The whirling of emotion that cannot be pinned down, touched, or as a puzzle piece, put into place. It is our draw towards beauty, and our pull towards a life we attempt to discover, leaving physical trails of who we were, and now becoming: paths of sense-making and storytelling.

Through the physical, we express the ephemeral, the push and pull of being human. The fragility and capriciousness, of living and seeking. A hand-created piece is more than an object, it’s a story of the creator, and also the collector. A dialogue of personal meaning, beauty, and touch: emotion and sensory perception.
