Interior Design As Self Improvement

What if interior design was looked at more in the realm of self improvement and psychology and less in the decorative arts. Would it then be viewed in a clearer light? Would it’s benefits be more utilized?

In an era where depression is at a high level, we are in search of more meaning and clarity. Our dissatisfaction with our government grows and our concerns with the environment will not lesson, it makes increasing sense that our living environments should take a higher importance, as these realities run toward us.

In this challenging era, interior design should be seen more as a way to soothe and uplift. To help usher in the future positive. This is not a huge hypothesis, it is merely the acknowledgment of the power of beauty. The power of the mind and creation. A matter of focusing on the innate intuitive self. Our desire for security as we weather the storms, and continue to make sense of who we are and where we’re going.

This is not an issue of good or bad or what’s trendy or chic. It is an issue of the fulfillment of life. Meaning and purpose. A means to an end, or at least a salve to an ongoing journey.
