The Meaning Of Things

July 28, 2023 Carl Barnett

Image | Carl Barnett

It is the meaning of things that we hope not to lose, not as much as the things themselves as what they mean to us, their stories and associations, our desires toward purpose, and meaning in life. We are collectors by nature, gathering the sustenance that wards off the void and unknown. Beauty is our faceted mirror, what we embody and desire to see, and to hold.

Nature And The Creative Endeavor

Nature and the creative endeavor are both a reflection of who we are and our place within a bigger picture of living. It is within these two we learn who we are, our intuition, biology, mind, body and the equanimity of beauty. We are created from the stars, born from water and nurturing soil. It is through nature and creativity we find our purpose, build our meaning and rest in the knowledge that sustains and pulls us. Nature and the creative endeavor echo our histories, vibrating in body and rippling time.

Our Digging, Our Sifting, Our Trying

July 23, 2023 Carl Barnett

NOURISH Gallery | SENTIENT

It is I believe, an inherent aspect of creating to be a mirror and salve to who we are. The beautiful ugly of being human. A means to communicate, resolve and bring joy through beauty. This is who we are, our means toward what's possible, our digging, our sifting, our trying.

What We Think About And Do

July 20, 2023 Carl Barnett

Who we are is a constant conversation in our minds and in our actions, manifested through beauty and the creative endeavor. What we think about we bring about, what we hold, we desire. This is why we create and collect. The why before the what.

To build the future possible and to reach our hopeful potential, we must surround ourselves with beauty and inspiration, the people, places, and things that uplift and inform the desires we hold in the present, how we see ourselves, and who we attempt to become.

Who we are is who we say we are, as we act out our narrative in our minds and the passing of our days.

Conversations Of Art

July 19, 2023 Carl Barnett

All creative gestures are conversations, they can be seen as mirrors, windows, and doors to who we are and wish to become: our fears, joys and visions of the future coming. Each creative endeavor opens up possibilities by way of beauty, resolve and insight.
